Since its founding in 1911, Historic Lutz Cemetery has become the final resting place of generations of veterans who answered the call to serve our nation in times of war and peace. We honor their service through the continued care of their resting places, meaningful traditions of remembrance, and a community committed to ensuring their names, stories, and sacrifices are never forgotten.
Walking through the rows of graves, visitors will find markers honoring veterans from The Civil War, The Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, and beyond. We don't reserve honoring veterans at Historic Lutz Cemetery for a single day. Throughout the year, families, volunteers, veterans, and community members gather here to remember those who served and ensure their names are still spoken.
Memorial Day Flag Placement
Each Memorial Day, volunteers help place American flags at the graves of veterans entrusted to our care. It is a simple act with an important purpose: to recognize their service, speak their names, and remember the lives behind each marker.
Purple Heart Ceremony
Our Purple Heart observance honors those wounded or who gave their lives in service to our nation. Through ceremony, remembrance, and community participation, we recognize the extraordinary sacrifice the Purple Heart represents.
Veterans Day Flag Placement
On Veterans Day, flags once again appear throughout the cemetery as we recognize the men and women who answered the call to serve. Families and community members are invited to join us in honoring their service.
Wreaths Across America Day
Each December, Historic Lutz Cemetery participates in Wreaths Across America, joining communities across the country in the mission to Remember, Honor and Teach. Volunteers place remembrance wreaths at veterans' graves while taking a moment to say each veteran's name.
Christmas Flag Placement
During the Christmas season, our tradition of remembrance continues with another placement of American flags at veterans' graves—a visible reminder that those who served remain part of our community and are remembered year-round.
